Understanding the Physical Changes During Pregnancy

Pregnancy is a time of extraordinary transformation. Your body goes through many changes, all designed to support the growth and development of your baby. While every woman’s experience is unique, there are some common physical changes you can expect along the way.

One of the most noticeable changes is your growing belly. As your baby grows, your uterus expands to make room, causing your abdomen to stretch. Many women notice changes to their skin as pregnancy progresses. You might see your nipples darken, a dark line called the linea nigra appear down your belly, or stretch marks develop as your skin stretches.

Frequent urination is also very common. The growing uterus presses on your bladder, leading to more trips to the bathroom. Hormonal shifts can affect your sense of taste and smell, causing unexpected cravings or strong food aversions. And while it’s normal to feel tired in the early weeks, many women experience fatigue again toward the end of pregnancy as their bodies work harder.
